For more than 25 years around our house, every November we would stick a “Thankful Heart Chart” up on the fridge with a mug of markers at hand. Once in a blue moon I dig them all out, read them and remember. Thankfulness for friends now far away, for homes in Costa Rica, in Spain. Thanks for all sort of things from music to math, from Bibles to new babies. The last couple years the drawings have been pretty thin on the old chart. But this year it’s overflowing with thanks– all the things Charlotte and Maryann could summon up. It’s a whole new generation of thankfulness. And that is reason enough to give thanks.
