Simplicity and Purity

.
“By two wings a man is lifted up from things earthly, by simplicity and purity.”

Thomas a Kempis (1380-1471)  priest, monk & writer

Thanks Mr. a Kempis.  What a beautiful thought.  But I currently find myself thoroughly mired in earthly things.  Stuck, really.  How do I get so absorbed by the day to day, by laundry and lesson plans, by errands and emails?  Oh that my life were more simple, more pure.  Lord help me.

  1. On December 11, 1998 I had a life changing experience with God that forever changed my way of thinking about life, about relationships and about God, himself. On that day, I began journaling, sharing every single area of my daily life with Him…just as a toddler would with a Dad. We experienced life together. (HAH!…there are even recipes and jokes in my journals…LOL) Though I have shlepped off the last few years, writing, I mean. I know that he is never farther away from me than my heart. He’ll tap me in the shoulder and wait for me to turn and face him again, and then I write again…and talk with him…discuss, really…all things that weigh my heart and mind. And oh, what a time we have…it feels good just to cry with him…and THAT is simple and pure at its best. For me, that grace he pours over me…there;s nothing more pure and simple than that. And so, dear Rhonda, dear friend that I’m so blessed to keep in contact with, your blog posts are that familiar “living-with-Jesus” that warms my heart. Thank you for living with Jesus in The Thankful Heart. Sure do miss you.
