“Cast all your cares on God; that anchor holds.” –Alfred Lord Tennyson
. . . . . . . . Poet Laureate of Great Britain, 1809-1892
Hello friends– I’m in need of a some anchoring right now. Life seems to be rushing at me and I’m feeling a little storm battered. We have lots of changes coming our way. And I’m left wondering how the next months will unfold. There’s just so much uncertainty for a person who loves to make lists and follow them to a T.
So I’m just casting my anchor onto the God who is sure. And am holding on tight. I don’t know what the future holds, but my little tossing boat is tied to a God who does know…
When talking about God’s promises, Hebrews 6:19 says–
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
Lord help me.
thank you Wikipedia for the anchor graphic
You are anchored well, Friend. I know the feeling…….. prayers are with you from me and hugs.
Thanks Cate– I would love your prayers in these crazy days ahead…
You got it. 🙂
It is comforting to know that even if we don’t know the plan for us, God always does. I understand how uncertainty can rock our routines! It will all work out!
You’re so right Debi– God’s knowing is a comfort… thanks.
love tennyson!
Hi Poli– So I have to admit, I’ve not read much of his work. But it’s nice to have bright friends like you, who have. I’ll have to investigate…
Hi there, I haven’t either, but when I do dip into a book of his poems I am moved every time. thanks for stopping by, and for posting your words and thoughts of wisdom, when ever I dip into your blog I find something that carries me through the day, which is lovely. Take care.

The Lady of Shalott
by Lord Alfred Tennyson
Part I
On either side the river lie
Long fields of barley and of rye,
That clothe the wold and meet the sky;
And through the field the road runs by
To many-towered Camelot;
And up and down the people go,
Gazing where the lilies blow
Round an island there below,
The island of Shalott.
I also love Rilke, although here too I only know the odd poem but this one about autumn is specially beautiful:
