Hello all– Our three grand-girls and their amazing mom have been off to China for about 6 weeks. They traveled to Hunan Province for Chinese New Year with their other Grandparents there! From all I heard it was a sweet time– here are my favorite photos:
The girls with their grandparents in China.
Jodi and the girls sitting down with her parents for the sumptuous New Year’s feast! (Jodi’s mom is an amazing cook!)
Twelve amazing dishes for the feast! –my favorite rice coated meatballs–and the crabs!!
Welcome Home at LAX. Missed these girls and their mom, so glad glad they’re home. Love that big smile Jobay!!!
P.S. Thanks Jodi for all your beautiful photos! xox
What an amazing trip for them Rhonda! I love the pics! It looks like you were thrilled to have them back though 😀
Hi Antonia– yep, I really missed those sweet crazy girls. But it was fun to get photos from China as they spent their weeks there. take care. xo
How exciting! What beautiful pictures. I bet they had a blast!
Hi Lacey– yep, they are pretty intrepid travelers. But I’m glad to have them here again! Take care friend. xo
Oh I love these photos, Rhonda! ❤ Especially the last one. Have a joyous reunion. Blessings and love, Debbie
Thanks Debbie– you know how it is to be with people you love… xo
Your photos gave me a big smile looking at those happy travelers. You are right, that was an amazing feast to celebrate the New Year…just incredible.
Thanks Karen– so kind.
You’re such a great Grandma, Rhonda! I can tell those girls just absolutely love you! Loved all the pictures, but that last one was the best! 😊
I’m so glad they’re back Daisy– going up with a birthday cake for Jodi’s (the mom) birthday in a few days. Can’g wait to spend a little time with them…
How special your grandgirls got to experience this!! Looks like they had a blast. And that table of food!! Oh my! Hugs to you, friend – Kat
I think it was a sweet time– Jodi’s mom has the tiniest kitchen, but she is an amazing cook. I’ve had a lot of her spicy meals on our trips to China in the past. Take care friend– hope you’re in the middle of a refreshing weekend. (is it warm there?? I’m in Madison WI with my daughter and people were out and about in tank tops today!!) hugs!!
What wonderful pictures, Rhonda! How blessed your grandchildren are to have you all and learn both cultures.💜
thanks Mary! They are a real mix-and I’m learning a lot from them! Hope you’re into a good week there… hugs!
Yes, it’s okay. I was sick yesterday but feeling much better today. Happy week to you!💗
glad to hear it Mary– loved your birthday post for Dylan! Hope it was the best day for him!! xo
Thank you for reading, Rhonda. I think he had a great day! Have a great weekend!💜
So glad– we’re having a quiet weekend– I’m chained to the sewing machine, starting a quilt for my daughter getting married. I’m a real amateur at this, but it’s lots of fun! Hope you’re weekends sweet and warm!!! xo
Oh how fun and what a great opportunity for them to be able to visit! I was a little awed by those crabs because at first glance, I thought they were buns!! They’re so fat and beautiful What a feast!!
Hi Mollie– Jodi’s mom is an amazing cook– in a kitchen about 6′ by 6′!! She smokes her own meats and made me chicken feet (that was tricky to eat!). She’s an amazing woman for a whole lot of reasons. Happy weekend!!
🙂
My computer must be over taxed, it’s not letting me see your pictures here! I’ll have to come back and check again later. Looking forward to them, our daughter-in-law is Chinese, too. 🙂
Oh, my gosh, SO happy I came back to see your pictures in this post. That top photograph of the girls in their beautiful shiny tops is absolutely precious. And the food spread, wow!
Fun to hear you liked them Marcia! I know. Isn’t that a crazy table full of wonderful food? Do you all eat a lot of Chinese food? We are learning to love it! take care. xo
Hi Marcia–that’s fun to know. Our son’s wife is from Hunan Province and our son-in-law is from Hong Kong. Was your daughter-in-law born in China? Did they have a Chinese wedding? We love getting in on Chinese holidays and traditions with the kids. Take care Marcia. xo
Interesting! No, she’s second generation here, born and bred in New York, and not too much into Chinese customs. Maybe that will change if/when they have kids. 🙂
Hi Marcia! I feel like having Jodi and Brian in our family has widened our world– fun to hear about your family… hugs hugs1
Such beautiful girls. You must have missed them. I like the look of that feast.
Hey Brigid!! thanks– Jodi’s mom has the tiniest kitchen, but mades incredible meals!! What is your specialty is the kitchen?? hugs!
I used to cook a lot for others but less so now. I am trying a new date and walnut bread recipe next week and a green cheesecake for St Patrick’s Day. I make a mean pavlova…xx
HI Brigid! Oh, I hope we get to see you date & walnut bread recipe!! And pavolva!! I’ve eaten it but never been brave enough to try to make it. What do you put on top??? Happy weekend!! xo
Hi Rhonda. I will do a few trials of date and walnut first! I like passion fruit and non dairy cream in the centre of pavlova if I make a multi layered one. I love raspberries best with it as a single layer but it is nice to decorate with redcurrants and strawberries too…
Hope all is well with you. Happy weekend. Hoping for an hour or two in the garden weather permitting. X
Oh Brigid– you’re making my mouth water describing those pavlovas! And you’re making me fell like I should get out there and work on our yard!! We have some ivy that is out of control!! Happy Gardening!! Hope it’s a lovely weekend Brigid! hugs!
I hope it’s a good weekend Rhonda. Ivy is rather difficult to control but it is still lovely to look at. It’s wet here so I may have to stay inside and catch up on a book I promised to review. xx
Will we get to see your book review Brigid?? What book is it? always love recommendations!
I am not sure yet Rhonda. Sometimes it’s best not to put a review out publicly.
Got it. Happy Day ahead Brigid! xox
And you. I have just made triple layer pavlova and will post it at end of the week with a wee link to your blog if that’s OK. xx
Great Brigid- can’t wait to see the recipe!! hugs hugs!
