Easter Hope





“Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father.  Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love.”
John 13:1

Hello friends– This year for Lent I determined to pull out my little concordance and track down scripture that tells of the love of God for us– his abounding faithful love.  I wanted it to wash over me for these 40 days.

And in these weeks, three heartfelt prayers answered, brought a joy of feeling loved and held in his hand.  It was glorious.

But in this last couple days, I’ve had to trust in God’s love in different ways as unexpected troubles have clouded life and obscured that joy.

That’s where Easter is our hope, our stay.  Jesus came to show the “full extent of his love.”  Loving enough to die for us– loving us through every bit of life, in joys and when things look grim.  I am thankful.

Walking into Lent

Lamb_of_God_Bleeding_-_Visitation_SymbolHello friends– Our church doesn’t observe the season of Lent, so yesterday early I went with my teacher friend, Maryann, to her church, Saint Angeles, for the quiet and reflection of their Ash Wednesday service.

I’m grateful for 40 day set aside to pray and worship, thanking God for the enormity of his care for us.  With the pressing complications of life right now, it’s good and right to turn my thoughts in that way…

In these days I’m remembering  Ephesians 3:17to 19
“And I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is he love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

God is good.

Morning Sky

IMG_3553Hello all– One morning last week I glanced out the kitchen window through the trees to see bits of a brilliant pink/orange sky.  I couldn’t help but walk out to stop and stand in the street to take it all in.  It was a gift– a glorious way to begin the morning!
